近年来，在出国留学的人潮中，以艺术深造、开阔视野、跨文化交流为使命的艺术系学生开始后来居上。
综观原因，业内多位留学顾问分析称，伴随着国内艺术品拍卖市场的火爆，国际设计机构和企业涌入中国市场，造成了艺术类岗位的紧缺和升值。
加上国内艺术类院校少、竞争过度，海外艺术发展历史悠久、院校教学资源丰富、语言门槛相对较低，极大推高了艺术留学的价值。
20**-20**年度不同方向的艺术类学生如何抉择?业内顾问从欧美不同国家的艺术积淀、学生需做的必要准备和经典案例出发，为准留学生们提供了丰富的选择。
应用艺术偏美国 传统艺术去欧洲
资深美国留学顾问郭念认为，从专业分类角度看，艺术类留学可以分为应用艺术类和传统艺术类两大类，前者包括设计和制作专业，后者是指传统意义上的声乐、舞蹈、美术类专业。
“现在越来越多的学生和家长在选择专业时，考虑因素除了学生的专业基础、家庭经济条件、留学国的语言要求外，毕业后的就业力越来越被重视。因此选择应用艺术类留学生的比例，比传统艺术类留学的人数要高很多。”
她简单地介绍，美式教育一直注重应用和创新能力的培养，各州公立和私立学校都加大了对国际学生开展实习和工作的支持，可以帮助学生的专业知识在实践中得以最大限度地发挥。
因此，如果选择美国留学，陶艺、美术设计、工业设计、多媒体/视觉通信等专业值得考虑;欧洲国家众多，语言丰富，特别是众多音乐、绘画大家都诞生于这个大洲，因此类似声乐、雕塑、油画/素描、摄影、版画复制等专业都可以在欧洲找到理想的学校。
比如英国的电影制作专业非常知名，布里斯托大学的电视和电影制作专业、金史密斯学院的电影和屏幕研究专业、东英格利亚大学的电影电视和创作实践等专业都排在2014年的泰晤士排名前列。
此外，欧洲留学咨询专家王南回认为，荷兰的'园林设计、水利工程、城市美化等专业，在世界范围内都堪称领先;而日韩作为亚洲留学热门地，广告艺术、游戏媒体设计、商业摄影、时装设计及插图等专业有较好的就业市场和实践基础。
不过她也建议，如果同样的专业在各大洲都有选择，留学生则需要根据个人留学目的来判断，如以就业为前提可以选择美国，以提升修养为目的则可以考虑欧洲国家。
敲开艺术名校之门 重视推荐和作品
业内留学专家均认为，相比在国内上艺术专业院校这条“独木桥”，国外学艺术并不算太高的门槛，对艺术类学生来说确实是福音。
不过业内也提醒：虽然海外艺术留学对申请人语言能力的要求不如其他专业严格，但越是排名靠前的学校，对其艺术潜力的考察越严格，需要学生做足准备，包括专业方面的突出表现、能打动学校考官的推荐信和论文。
“其实推荐信蛮有用的，因为这艺术东西说白了，有人欣赏就好，没人欣赏就不好。最好能找一位艺术修养较高，能在留学国家有点分量的人来写。当然，如果自己的专业老师符合这个条件更好。有一两封这样的信件来评价申请者的艺术能力和未来潜力，非常有竞争力。”
王南回建议，在艺术生准备作品时，绘画、摄影平面设计和工业设计这些专业的学生最好做一本高精度的平面图册，每个作品下配备文字说明，然后可以内置幻灯片或者DVD存储的其他作品。
音乐专业的则可以录制几首用不同语言演唱的CD，录制时最好还能做个防伪认证、准备磁带式录音作为辅助材料，自己谱的曲子也以能提供创作手稿的扫描件、磁带为佳。
“既能打消学校以为的电脑编制出来的疑虑，还能显示申请者的细致，这很有必要。”
资深美国留学顾问郭念补充，国外院校非常看重学生个人的诚信度，这和考验他们的艺术能力是一样的。
“提交的作品不在多，在于是否能真实体现申请者的能力。有人为了提高竞争力，不惜搞假证书、假成绩，甚至借用别人的作品，一旦发现就意味着为以后的艺术道路埋下隐患，因为你根本不知道这些‘污点’会随着你的履历一直跟随着自己。”
了解奖学金政策 减轻留学压力
提及艺术类留学，很多家长和学生都摇摇头：太费钱了。
确实，相比其他专业留学，能选择艺术留学这条路的家庭，经济实力是硬件。
不过业内顾问也认为，提早了解奖学金、实践和就业的政策，能为经济型留学家庭省下不少费用。
“很多艺术学院和大学的艺术专业虽然不能提供足够的资助，但会有少量的助教席位，学生可以提早关注并争取;其次，有些文理学院也提供艺术类的本科和研究生教育，可以提供较多的学生资助。”
郭念认为，如果在校期间实在感到经济紧张，又没有渠道打工，可以在不违背艺术留学的前提下，侧重选择小而专的艺术学院，这些学校可以帮助学生更好地在社会上就业、工作和个人创作，并且毕业后就业比较容易。
