推荐信写作的时候，应该整合学生所有资料，然后综合分布在所有老师的评语中，塑造优秀的、全方面发展的学生形象。

申请美国高中时，一定要避开写推荐信的思维误区，多写案例，体现活生生的、与众不同的、只有学生才特有的事情。
技巧二、采用故事方式叙写
针对学生申请美国高中时推荐信应写有故事情节的情况，中国老师写的`推荐信的普通问题是太笼统，用中国化的思维模式来介绍学校声望、入学标准、学生成绩优秀等等，这样不是不好，只是对申请美国高中来讲，美国的招生办更希望家长、老师等提供一些对学生更有价值的信息。
他们不希望看到的仅仅是简单地陈述学生多么优秀，而是要具体到某一件事上。
她认为，申请美国高中时提供的推荐信要有故事情节，是通过实际发生的小故事来体现孩子的性格特征、学习能力等方面。
譬如，如何积极参与小组讨论或者活动、学习习惯如何、在面对学习困难时怎么样、是否虚心听老师和家长的批评、学习中怎么和同学一起共同进步等，这样才能表现出活生生的一面，让推荐信更加生动，而不是空洞。
